Damn, I was hoping that Rise Of Dragonian Era would make a difference in my MMORPG experience, but I was wrong about that. I started to play it 3 days ago, and in that time I've played it for about 4 hours. I know, 4 hours is not much, but I always thought that the initial impression is the best... As I've said when I posted the first time about RODE, the graphics are nice to look at, but after 4 hours of playing, the low-res ground textures really start to annoy. The same goes for that bad Chinese restaurant music theme they use. Then questing... Well, nothing really new on that front. Aside from being an Asian grinder (which I really don't mind), you're quite rail-roaded through the content. And then not to mention that all quests you have in your tracker list are marked on the map (remember my post about 'X marks the spot'?). The only 'new' thing in questing is that there are more than one 'main' quests you can follow. Though this might sound odd, it does make sense. One quest seems to be clearly guide you to mounts, while the other is about your role in the Dragonian Era. And then the cash-shop... Man, they are EXPENSIVE! I'm okay with the so-called Free2Play MMORPG's to have a cash-shop to finance the game, but things like success-rate enhancers (one-time items BTW) to cost about $7 and silly cosmetic outfits for $20 does make me doubt the game a bit. I mean, buying the 'summer special' outfit for $20 where you get a simple bathing suit, a plain cap and a pair of flip-flops makes you wonder why these virtual goods are so expensive while for the same money you can get those 'in real life' as well... |
