Remember that I wrote about Ys online a long time ago? I really liked this Japanese MMORPG as it was presented back then. Okay, some adjustments (like for crafting) had to me done, but it was real fun to play. Of course, I was sad when the Western projects were put on hold when the European publisher went bankrupt. Since then I've been looking for Ys games to play, but all were quite old, and rather hard to find. Not to mention, some Ys games were even plain console (NES mostly) games using an emulator. Well, I'm not gonna spend money on that. But yesterday I found Ys Origin and Ys: The Oath in Felghana on Steam for a reasonable price (€15.99 and €11.99 resp.). Looking at the release dates (both this year, but Ys Origin is a bit newer) I picked Ys Origins. Mostly because Ys Origins is set 700 years in the past and gives me an oppertunity to learn something about the Ys setting as a whole. Yesterday and today I've been playing Ys Origins a lot and I must say that I really enjoy it. It is a typical Japanese RPG taken from the old consoles (mostly hack & slash) with fun dialogues in between. Also, a lot of treasures you get from the chests that you encounter are needed later on. Too bed though, the game gives you only 2 options (as far as I can tell): either use the object or don't... There is only one but for me... I started on 'normal' level, and I wasn't able to pass the Vagullion boss. As much as I tried, I kept on dieing horribly (I know, I'm getting too old for action RPG's... ) So I'm now playing it on 'easy' level (there's also 'very easy', but I'm not that old yet ) and as you have seen in the movie, I was able to get past Vagullion.Next up is an other boss, a real HUGE demon (it is in the steam movie), and on my 1st try I just could not get past him (yet). Mostly because I had no idea what to do, but I think I that I can handle him if I give it a bit more effort
