With the whole bunch of books our son has for his new school, I had to make space in the bookshelf... Over the years I have collected a large amount of (Advanced) Dungeons & Dragons books, as well as other RPG systems (including all books of TSR's the Alternate role-playing system). Though I know it's very likely I won't play any pen-n-paper RPG for the coming time (and I haven't played one for a couple of years already), I want to keep all books I have. But there's still the issue of making space for our son's schoolbooks... Going through my collection of RPG books, I found a bunch of printed eBooks, that were collecting as much dust as the rest of my collection. Since I have those still in digital form, I decided to remove those books (one shelf emptied already). Then came my Warhammer models. Okay, it sounds more than I actually have... I started collecting a Ogre army a couple of years ago, and assembled only a few of them. But I also still have a converted Kroxigor Champion (a real old one already, and it's an awesome model - pity I don't have a scanner here to show you), as well as the Bretonnian King (I don't remember his name - Leon something ).But looking at the Warhammer stuff I also saw that I really displayed those few models on a lot of space, and the tools, paint and other stuff I need to crate them, took an aweful lot of space as well. All the Warhammer stuff was on 4 shelfs, and after reordering stuff, it only uses 2 shelfs now. Still the subject of the books and models collecting dust... I'd love to play both (Advanced) Dungeons & Dragons as well as work on my Warhammer models, but right now I don't think I'll be able to. But if someone around Alkmaar wants to play, please let me know

...My wife is gonna kill me for this...
My friends and I are starting a new Alternaty campaign in the universe of the StarDrive setting. We've already done the introduction adventure, where we had to repair the communications relay with The Verge. Now, after one year, we have time to continue the campaign, but an extra player would be nice... What is StarDrive? The StarDrive setting plays around 2500 (we started in the year 2497), where humanity sort of rules our arm of the milky way. By sheer accident, we developed a unique faster than light technology, called the...StarDrive... (duhuh ^^) The setting is an Epic space-opera one with lots of nice features. Even though I won't follow the books literally (some rules just don't make sense), we'll get some epic stuff to deal with. More over, I've taken the liberty to cross the StarDrive setting with some elements of the TV-series Babylon 5, because there's some major epic stuff projected there too... A small introduction of the players
We prefer a mature player, because we're all over 30 already... Knowledge of the the Alternaty RPG system is not required, but RPG experience is
Books are not required, but would be nice if you have them (I have 3 PHB's here) Wanna join? Post a comment and I'll contact you. Leave your eMail in name[at]domain[dot]nl format, so that eMail bots won't be able to harvest the address (of course, something different is welcome as well )

After almost 2 years, we finally managed to get our Star*Drive campaign started. As we had to do, we started with the Black Starfall adventure. It was one I prepared year ago, and read quickly last week, but the preperations were too small in the end . But the most important thing was that we had fun... What happened then..? According to the adventure, you should repair the Kendai Relay Station (some kind of sub-space communications station), kill the implanted virus, kill the villian and his followers and be the hero of the day. Things went pretty different. Yes, the players were able to kill the virus (well, a NPC did), and they did kill the villain with his followers. But they players also killed the stations commander and destroyed the small spacecraft they were on. Oh well.. The most important thing is that the Relay Station is functional again and that they heard the destresscall from Hammers Fall... |

Yesterday evening I had a long (phone)chat with a friend of mine whith whom I will play Warhammer soon. Since we (and a third friend as well) started from scratch again with Warhammer, we have to pay a close look at our finances (and time to assamble and paint the models) as well. So we agreed to make a 1.000 point army for the time being... This morning, while traveling with the train to my work, I took a sheet and made a rough scatch of the 1.000 point Ogre army I'd like to play. And after about 30 minutes I came up with a good 995 point army that includes only 17 models. Yeah, I know, Ogre's are expensive in points, but my army is pretty small by the looks of it. On a second look at the army I figured I could even reduse the size of the army even more. If I realy do my best, I can make a devastating army within the 1.000 points that only includes 10-12 models. Only problem is the financial part. To accomplish that, I have to add a regiment (LOL, 3 models) of Ogre Mercinaries, and those are ? 15,00 each (ouch!). I think I'll stick to my first setup of the 1.000 point army and get the Mercinaries later on as nice addition... First priority is to buy all the models I need for now, which will cost me around ? 50,00, and paint them nicely... With a bit of luck I might play my first battle next month... |

It's been a while since I played my last game of Warhammer. But on Almira's b-day, two of my friends said to have started playing Warhammer, and asked me to play the game with them. Too bad I sold off all my old Warhammer miniatures and books. I used to have a huge Lizardmen army (3.000 points, and expanding to 4.000), a nice Bretonnian army, and I started with a Warhammer 40.000's Tyrant army. And not to mention the huge amount of colors I had... But as said, that's all gone . The only thing I kept were the King of Bretonnia (don't know how to pronounce his mane, so I don't even try it ) and a converted Kroxigor Champion (will post a picture of this one later on; it's a real good conversion). And now wit the new start, I took a good look at the Warhammer web-site to make my army choice. And after examining the models (and conversion options with them), I descided to play the Ogre Kingdoms. This army consists of huge and strong warriors. Though I need few models to make an army, there's enough to paint on them due to the amount ot details on them. So far I've bought myself an Ogre Bulls regiment (6 models), 8 different colors of paint and a small bottle of glue for the amount of ? 55,00 . I was glad I still had my old brushes, or I'd have to pay a lot more...
